Imagine this: You’ve cleansed your face with your go-to face wash, which has taken off the dirt and impurities but also has stripped some of the natural oils and hydration. At this point your skin is dry and brittle like a coarse sponge. If at this point you slather moisturizer on a sponge, it won’t absorb it. However, what a toner does is that it prepares your pores by making them even and hydrated.

How and when do I use a toner?

You have to use a toner immediately after washing / cleansing / exfoliating your face. And when I say immediately, I mean within minutes! I know it sounds crazy but when your skin is damp after a cleanse, it’s the best time to apply a toner.

You can either take some toner in the palms of your hand, dab it on to your skin with your fingers or take a cotton pad, sprinkle some toner onto it and swipe it across your face in upwards motion.

At this point, your skin is ready for moisturizer or serum or SPF. Dermatologists and aestheticians recommend that you do this twice daily, morning and before you hit the bed.

When in doubt, always remember C-T-M!
